Biography

Mr. Chris D. Greenwood practices in all areas of civil litigation in both state and juvenile courts in the Provo/Orem area and throughout Utah County. His area of emphasis includes family law matters regarding divorce, custody, alimony, visitation, parent time, child support, modifications, paternity, simple and complex property settlements, and prenuptial agreements. Mr. Greenwood represents clients through the legal proceedings from mediation through trial and appeals to the Utah State Court of Appeals.

His educational achievements include obtaining a Bachelor of Arts, English Literature, Cum Laude, with Distinction of University Honors, from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, where he was on the Dean’s list. His legal education comes from the J. Reuben Clark Law School of Law, Provo, Utah where he obtained a Juris Doctorate, 1992. He served as an Assistant Editor, on the Journal of Education and Law Journal, Spring 1992. He authored published Article, “Congress’s New IDEA in Special Education: Permitting a private right of action against State Agencies.” He was admitted to Utah State Courts in 1992 and the Utah Supreme Court in 1992.  He is a member in good standing with the Utah State Bar in 1992. He is a member of the Government Law Section, and served as the Treasurer from 2010 through 2011.

He joined the law firm of Greenwood & Black, Attorneys at Law in 1992 serving the local community along the Wasatch Front in various capacities. His community service includes pro bono service as a mock court trial judge, youth advisor, and participant in the Tuesday night bar, assisting the low income advising them on family law matters.

He was elected to public service as a city councilman and served from 2007 through 2011 for the city of Genola. His service with the city included advice regarding youth and family issues.

He is a skier and avid outdoors enthusiast. He has hiked coast to coast across England on foot in 2013.
